12th February, Kuala Lumpur -
With the ninth edition of the Formula One
Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix just eight weeks away, Sepang
International Circuit (SIC) has intensified its campaign to secure
further support for the event with a special session with top
corporate leaders in Kuala Lumpur today.
Offering packages described as `a win-win Fl formula', SIC chairman
Datuk Mokhzani Tun Dr Mahathir called on the corporate companies to
take opportunity from the Formula One race as a platform to enhance
and explore their business opportunities while supporting a national
agenda by the Government.
"As you are aware, Formula One is not merely a programme for SIC or
the city of Kuala Lumpur. Instead, it is a national project by the
Government to enhance Malaysia's image globally; a catalyst to develop
motorsports in Malaysia as a sports as well as a business; as well as
for the development of its automotive sector.
"Now, it has become a prime strategy in generating national revenue
from tourism, which SIC, Tourism Malaysia and the City of Kuala Lumpur
are fully committed to and which had shown over the years of its huge
impact impact to national economy," he said at the Fl Corporate
Cocktail at Westin Kuala Lumpur.
With the event commanding hundred of thousands of television viewers,
Mokhzani said Malaysian companies could make immediate impact in
international mileage by taking up the circuit's advertising packages
around the track and at the spectator areas.
On a smaller scale, they could also take up advertising spaces with
the official programme or simply committing themselves as partners to
the event with SIC, he added.
The companies could also take up the Paddock Club, Corporate Suite and
Corporate Platform packages to entertain their business associates and
clients at the circuit while enjoying the world's most prestigious
motor racing event.
Hailed as the Ultimate Experience in Formula One, the Paddock Club
provides access for guests to be near the F1 pits and garages; meeting
drivers up close and enjoy the race from private lounges at the upper
terrace of the pit building. Passes are sold between RM14,440 and
RM16,340 each.
