Sorina Neacsu of
Romania is the winner of first ever Miss
Tourism Metropolitan International World
Final. She beat 40 other delegates to
clinch the title in the grand finals of
the pageant here on new year eve. The
17-year-old lass likes dancing, modeling
and travelling. Her wins earned her RM10,000
cash, crown, gifts, batik, trophy and
sash. The winner also won
subsidiary title of Miss Secret.
Venezuela beauty Karen Blanco, 22 was
named first runner up. Follow by second
runner-up, Essi Poysti Finland of Finland.
Third runner-up winner Watcharawan
Suntarintu of Thailand Charm was also
named Miss Kai Elegance, Miss Sunway
Photogenic and Miss KL Sogo Trendsetter.
Anna Marie Morelos of Philippines was
forth runner-up.
Home-grown country beauty, Joanne Chan was
named Miss Crowning Glory and Miss
Friendship. Other subsidiary titles were:
Miss Poh Kong Glamour (won by Giselle
Lajud of Argentina), Miss Trendy (Ece
Betul Filiz of Turkey), Miss Celebrity
Body Fit (Anita Baltruna of Latvia), Miss
Mayflower Personality ( Carena West of New
Zealand), Best In Talent (Ece Betul Filiz
of Turkey) and Best In National Costume (Gerelchuluun
Baatarchuluun, Mongolia).
A home-grown title founder, Datuk Danny
Ooi said that it was timely for Malaysia
to play host to this inaugural World Final
as the Visit Malaysia Year 2007
celebrations has been extended to August
2008. The Miss Tourism Metropolitan
International event not only seeks to
enhance Malaysia's standing on the world
pageantry map, but it also aims to present
Malaysia as a leading tourist destination.
The pageant theme. "Bringing the World to
Malaysia", also complements the efforts of
the Tourism Ministry in promoting Visit
Malaysia Year 2007.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister
Department YB Datuk M. Kayveas, who graced
the event, witness the crowning of Miss
Tourism Metropolitan International title
winners and also joined the 40
participating beauty queens in a special
10-second countdown event to welcome a
brand new year.
