Nov 2008, Kuala Lumpur – The celebrated
fashion festival, Islamic Fashion Festival (IFF)
whose patronage is under Yang Amat Berbahagia
Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of the
Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, is back for
its sixth year running.
Scheduled to be hosting a four-day show starting
24 – 27 November at J.W. Marriot, IFF will
feature local designers from the likes of Dato’
Bernard Chandran, Dato’ Tom Abang Saufi, Melinda
Looi, Michael Ong, Khoon Hooi, Albert King and
international designers like Samuel Wattimena,
Ghea Panggabean, Sebastian Gunawan and Biyan
from Indonesia, Jun Escario from Philippines,
Rajesh and Anirban India and Deepak Perwani from
Pakistan.
IFF, whose aim is to promote Malaysia as a
leading trade hub for Islamic fashion, has vowed
to bring the Islamic nations from the
neighboring countries closer together and foster
an utter ukhwah amongst them.
This fashion festival presents more than just
stylish and wearable wardrobe without
compromising on modesty requirements of the
Muslim dress code and it also invites guests
into a spiritual and meaningful affair.
This year, nine different organizations have
joined forces to make this show a success. They
are National Heart Institution, Tuanku Najihah
Foundation, National Cancer Society Malaysia,
Persatuan Bencana Alam Negeri Kedah Darul Aman (PBANK),
Pertubuhan Rumah Amal Cahaya Tengku Ampuan
Rahimah (RACTAR), Pusat Kreatif Kanak-kanak
Tuanku Bainun and Lembaga Kebajikan Perempuan
Islam Malaysia.
Each organization has adopted a theme to work
together with designers to make this fashion
festival a charitable one. Part of the proceeds
from the show will be channeled to their
represented charity organizations.
While presenting the latest trends and creations
in Islamic Fashion to an international audience,
the KL-Jakarta-Dubai IFF's mission for the ever
changing world is to make Kuala Lumpur and
Jakarta the Islamic Fashion capitals what
Paris-Rome-Milan-New York is to the European
Fashion labels.
IFF is happy and proud to independently host and
present the sixth ‘Islamic Fashion Festival ’.
It will begin with an Islamic Attire Workshop on
the 22nd November followed by IFF Fashion
Showcases from 24th November to the 27th
November 2008. The final presentation will be
the Islamic Fashion Bazaar in conjunction with
Malaysia Savings Sale at the KL Plaza from the
28th to the 4th December 2008 presented by Kuala
Lumpur Tourism Action Council.
