9th June,
Kuala Lumpur - After
10 days of exciting, freshest, spiciest,
most awe-inspiring and exciting car displays,
concept cars and auto accessories, the
Kuala Lumpur International Motorshow 2006
(KLIMS 2006) sang its swan song tonight
at Gala Nite dinner held at the Putra
World Trade Centre (PWTC).
Living up to its name of the biggest
and hottest motorshow in town, KLIMS
2006 drew a whopping crowd of 330,000
visitors during the 10 days of exhibition
at PWTC, exceeding the previous show
by 10,000 visitors.
Datuk Aishah Ahmad, President of the
Malaysia Automotive Association behind
the organization of KLIMS 2006 said,
"We are also happy to note that
the visitor attendance during the past
10 days of KLIMS 2006 did hit a record
close to 330,000. The effusive spin-offs
created in the form of creating brand
awareness for our exhibitors and promotion
of products and services are also noteworthy.
With the enlarged exhibition space as
compared to previous motorshows, exhibitors
experienced a productive streak with
better booth layout and designs."
Datuk Aishah affirmed that KLIMS is
here to stay and there is no turning
back now. "We have made this our
flagship event. As voice of the automotive
industry, the Malaysian Automotive Association
is translating the aspirations of our
members into a tangible showcase to
be revealed under the auspices of KLIMS."
The Gala Nite, attended by exhibitors
and media guests was the highpoint after
months of grueling hard work in preparation
for the show. It was also the night
where organizers announced the winners
for KLIMS 2006 lucky draw prizes.
Mr Cham Heng Siang must have been laughing
his way to the bank when it was announced
that he won a brand new Toyota Vios
1.5 L at his single lowest bid price
of only RM53.49. He out-bided the competition
and emerged victorious amongst other
bidders throughout KLIMS 2006 Amazing
Lelong contest held in conjunction with
the motorshow.
That was not the only car given out
at the Gala Nite, Zulkifli Bin Ismail
won the smart forfour car with Thule
rack and LLumar security films and Chua
Met Ngee, Koh Boon Chuan, Ng Kah Henh
and Mohd Mazlan Bin Veer Shaib won the
4 Naza bikes for KLIMS 2006 lucky draw!
The organizers have also picked out

Exhibitors have gone through great
lengths in planning and constructing
the most outstanding booth and tonight
the organizer announced the winner of
KLIMS 2006 Best Booth Design. For the
non automobile category, the best booth
award went to Panasonic Malaysia Sdn
Bhd, YHI (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and Thule
South East Asia Sdn Bhd. For the automobile
category, UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd won
first place followed by Honda Malaysia
Sdn Bhd and DaimlerChrysler Malaysia
Sdn Bhd.
After a frenzy SMS voting for KLIMS
2006 Brand Ambassadors, judges Andrew
Lee from Clark Hatch Fitness Center,
Ms Heidi Sode Hamid, spokesperson from
Mayfair Bodyline Sdn Bhd and Encik Bon
Zainal Harun from Bon Zainal Sdn Bhd
chose Juliana Banos from Mutiara Motors
as KLIMS 2006 Brand Ambassador from
the top 7 finalists.
As the curtain comes down on KLIMS
2006, the organizers and exhibitors
cannot help but feel a tinge of nostalgia
for yet another successful KLIMS. However,
word around is that there plans for
another KLIMS in the near future and
soon it will be back to the drawing
boards for everyone involved.
