The past two years have seen Datuk Danny Ooi, the President and Franchise Owner of Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International, taking Malaysia's very own home-grown international pageant title to China. For this year, however, Malaysia is once again proud to host the 13th Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International 2006 World Final on December 30th, 2006 (Saturday) at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, Level 10 (beginning at 7.30pm).

Initiated in 1993, the Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International Pageant title has since been franchised to more than 60 countries. Datuk Danny Ooi has invited beauty queens from around the world to participate in this prestigious two-week-long event, which coincides with the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

During their stay in Malaysia, the beauty aspirants' itinerary is packed with numerous exciting activities that see them attending sponsors' events and visiting the country's main tourist attractions and facilities.

Organiser D'Touch Promotion Sdn Bhd not only seeks to enhance Malaysia's standing on the world pageantry map, but also aims to present Malaysia as a leading tourist destination. The organiser has aptly themed the pageant "Bringing the World to Malaysia", which complements the efforts of the Tourism Ministry in promoting Visit Malaysia Year 2007.

The pageant also serves as an educational and promotional platform for the delegates to learn about Malaysia and at the same time, encourage cultural exchanges not only among themselves but also with those they come into contact with.

The theme for this year's World Final is "Discover the Treasures of Malaysia" where the pageant has incorporated a play to test the acting and dancing skills of the contestants. This has indeed changed the conventional method of a pageant and added entertainment value to the event.

The Guest of Honour is YB Dato' Donald Lim Siang Chai, Deputy Minister of Tourism, and he will be witnessing the crowning of 5 international title winners together with more than 1,000 guests
